The Singleton of Dufftown has an aroma of toasted nuts with rich fruits, with hints of blackcurrant, brown sugar and coffee on the palate ‐ before an elegantly drying and crisp finish.
Nose: Approachable and rich. First polished wood and nuts (toasted hazelnut) dominate, then stewed fruits (baked apples), dried fruits (sweet dates), and soft brown sugar take over. Mossy too, after a while. With water, a sweeter, more direct Speyside character develops (pure pear drops!). Clean and dense. After a while, warm, dry, aromas, of pencil shavings or match-sticks.
Palate: Orange zest spiciness perks up a malty core of nuts, oak and toffee hints of cut grass, brown sugar and espresso coffee.
Finish: Medium to long, elegantly drying and crisp. Oaky, rich with good length, some fruit lingers.
